The new BlackBerry Pearl is much improved over the original, although that doesn’t mean that the original was a slouch by any means. This new edition is WiFi enabled with several other additional enhancements that make browsing the web much better, while the camera has also been improved. The camera is now a 2 megapixel model and is capable of recording videos. The problem you’ll probably run into is that this new updated version of the BlackBerry Pearl is great, but it should have had more enhancements. This feels like a version 1.5 rather than a version 2.0.
As far as design goes, the original BlackBerry Pearl and the new RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8120 are nearly the same. Of course, the looks were pretty good to start with, so why change things up? The most talked about feature of this new version is the fact that it now has WiFi. The phone is compatible with 802.11b/g networks which are what make up the majority of home networks, and hotspots. Like a laptop’s wireless card, the BlackBerry Pearl phone searches for available networks. WiFi is definitely and advantage for this phone since this version of the BlackBerry Pearl is only available through AT&T and they only run the EDGE network for internet connections. With WiFi, you’re free to connect anywhere you can.
The RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8120 is now more powerful and for fans of the original, this new version won’t disappoint.
